Zoho Social and Buffer both help businesses plan and publish social content, but their pricing and operating models point to different users.
Choose Zoho Social when you want to manage one brand across a broad set of channels from a single plan, with monitoring and deeper Zoho connections available as you upgrade.
Choose Buffer when you want a simple publishing workflow, need only a small number of channels, or prefer pricing that scales per connected social account.
The right choice depends less on how many networks a product supports and more on how many accounts, people and approval steps you genuinely need.

How this comparison was prepared
This guide is based on official pricing, feature and support documentation. It is not a controlled hands-on test, so workflow speed, reliability and support quality are not presented as tested conclusions.
Compare the account model first
Zoho Social defines a brand as a collection of social channels. Its current Free plan covers one brand across Facebook Pages, X, Instagram Business, LinkedIn Profile, LinkedIn Company Page and Google Business Profile. Standard expands the supported network set, while higher plans add monitoring, engagement and collaboration tools.
Buffer treats each connected social account as one channel. Free supports three channels. Essentials and Team support unlimited connections but charge per channel, with volume discounts after ten channels. This is straightforward for a freelancer managing one Instagram, one LinkedIn profile and one company page, but a multi-brand operation must count every account.
List your actual accounts before comparing prices. Include personal and company profiles separately, and mark which ones need automatic publishing, analytics, comments or approval.
Publishing and content workflow
Zoho Social Standard includes multi-channel publishing, scheduling, a publishing calendar, drafts, an image editor and summary reports. Professional adds bulk scheduling, repeat posting, a media library, custom video thumbnails, RSS feeds and Instagram first-comment support.
Buffer Free currently permits ten scheduled posts per channel. Essentials and Team provide unlimited scheduled posts subject to fair-use limits, along with a visual calendar, ideas, AI assistance, hashtag management and first-comment scheduling. Buffer also supports a broad range of networks, but feature availability varies by channel and account type.
Test the formats you use most: a LinkedIn document, Instagram Reel with cover, carousel, first comment and tagged account. A scheduler is only useful if it reliably supports the real creative workflow.
Engagement, monitoring and analytics
Zoho Social Professional includes messages, connections and a monitoring dashboard. Premium adds Inbox, custom reports, UTM parameters and connections with Zoho CRM and Desk. These capabilities suit a business treating social activity as part of a broader customer journey.
Buffer includes a Community inbox and engagement assistance in its current plans, with Free limits on AI replies and saved replies. Paid plans add unlimited history and advanced analytics, while Team adds collaboration and access controls.
Native platform analytics remain important. Schedule through each trial, then compare the published post with the source file, check the link parameters and reconcile reported results with the social network itself.
Teams, clients and approvals
Zoho Social Free, Standard and Professional currently include one team member. Premium includes three and adds approval workflows, collaboration and custom roles. Agency editions are designed around multiple client brands and portals.
Buffer Essentials includes one user. Team is priced at a higher rate per channel but includes unlimited team members, access levels and content approval workflows. This can be attractive when several people collaborate on only a few channels.
The cheapest individual plan is not the correct comparison if another person must review content. Count approvers, creators and client users before choosing.
Pricing logic
Buffer's current annual rates start at $5 per month for one channel on Essentials and $10 per month for one channel on Team. Its Free plan supports three channels, while paid channels 1–10 use the standard per-channel rate and larger portfolios receive volume discounts.
Zoho Social displays pricing according to region and billing cycle. Because plans bundle one brand with several channel types, its value improves when the business will actively use most of that bundle. Confirm the exact local price and features shown in your data centre.

Choose Zoho Social if...
- you manage one brand across several supported networks;
- monitoring, messages and connections to Zoho CRM or Desk matter;
- you may grow into approval workflows or an agency structure;
- the bundled-brand pricing fits your actual channel mix.
Choose Buffer if...
- you want a focused publishing and engagement workflow;
- three channels and ten queued posts per channel are enough to begin free;
- paid per-channel pricing is clearer for your small account set;
- a team needs unlimited collaborators across relatively few channels.
Final verdict
Zoho Social is the stronger fit for a business managing a broad one-brand presence and wanting social activity connected to other Zoho customer systems. Buffer is the stronger fit for a solo operator or small team that values simplicity and wants to pay only for the accounts it connects.
Use both trials to schedule one real week of content. Compare publishing fidelity, approval effort, reporting clarity and the time required to respond to comments. The better tool is the one that makes a sustainable content routine easier—not the one that encourages more low-value posting.
